Nature in Wales is in crisis. Wildlife is disappearing, habitats are being lost, and those in power are failing to act.
We are creating a Nature Investigations Unit to change that — and we need your support.
What is the Nature Investigations Unit?
This dedicated team of journalists, campaigners, and researchers will investigate, expose, and challenge the decisions and inaction that are harming nature in Wales. They will shine a light on the issues holding back nature recovery and propose practical, evidence-based solutions.

Why is this needed?
It is a difficult truth: the nature conservation sector in Wales is losing the battle to protect wildlife and habitats. Years of government cuts, the weakening of statutory bodies, and the degradation of our most important wildlife sites are symptoms of a system that no longer prioritises nature.
This cannot continue. We need a new approach.
Over the next three years, we aim to lead a fundamental shift in how nature conservation operates in Wales — by placing accountability at the heart of the sector. We will challenge poor decisions, expose harmful inaction, and advocate for better outcomes for wildlife.
